A VP of Information Technology manages a business’ IT function. It calls a chief information officer (CIO).

Education Requirements

Although some companies would prefer hiring somebody with a bachelor’s degree in computer science or business administration, many companies will hire somebody who has earned an associate degree in information systems or computer science instead. A bachelor’s degree in any field will also do just fine. 

However, you will need five or more years of experience in information technology before you can apply for this executive position. If you’re interested in becoming a VP of Information Technology, then you need to gain three to five years of work experience first as an Information. 

Technology Analyst or as Network Administrator before you can apply for this job opening. 

Having certifications from organizations such as Cisco Systems or Microsoft will give you an edge when applying for senior executive positions such as this one.
